If " A picture is worth a thousand words", then a face can reveal the life story of a person. My first experiences in art were in portraiture and I continue to paint, to be amazed and inspired by the wonder and strength of the human spirit. No other genre captures these elements of an individual as does a sensitive rendering with brush and paint.
Currently I am creating a series I call " Unseen Faces". It seeks to honour alienated and anonymous in society that tend to be neglected and undervalued. I paint their portrait, make an art quality reproduction, frame it exactly as the original and give it to the sitter.
When I paint a person I try to see life through their eyes, feel what they feel and in some way imagine the life they live. As impossible as this may seem it is what fascinates me and motivates me to continue exploring the landscape of the face.
